Beaches
The Emerald Coast is just 13km away and has a succession of beaches to suit all tastes from sun bathing and safe bathing to surfing.
The beaches we like the most are
Sable D'or les Pins - a vast expanse of sand surrounded by dunes. The resort was built between the wars as the Breton equivalent of Deauville and has wide boulevards with a few shops and cafes. An estuary leads up from the main beach and is well protected from sea breezes. It's a good place for shrimping and catching baby crabs and fish.
St Cast le Guildo - the main beach is just in front of the town. Both are lively - with a Club Mickey on the beach in the summer and volley ball championships. Plage de Pen Guen is just east of the town, quieter, and overlooked by some cliffs and the golf course.

Erquy - has a fishing port at one end of the beach with some good cafes. The Cap D'Erquy is a nature reserve with foot paths leading to more remote coves and beaches. The Plage de Caroual is good for shells, wind surfing and kites - a big beach with loads of space.

La Fosse - between Cap Frehel and Pleherel Plage - good for surfing and rock pools.
All these beaches are 15 to 20 minutes from the cottage and there are plenty more to discover. We have yet to find a crowded beach!
